Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Sunday said that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has lost the moral authority to continue, as complete lawlessness and anarchy are prevailing across the state.

“This is high time the government either starts acting or decides to abdicate — the sooner, the better,” he warned.

Reacting to the riot and arson inside the Kapurthala jail last evening and the killing of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police in Amritsar today, Warring said the AAP government had clearly abdicated its authority, allowing criminals and gangsters a free run. “There is no fear of law,” he remarked.

Referring to the violence inside the Kapurthala jail, he said, “The fact that such violence took place inside a high-security jail proves only one thing — this government’s writ does not run even inside jail premises, while it has already ceased to exist outside.”

He pointed out that the manner in which jail inmates were able to resort to unprecedented violence and arson showed that those responsible for maintaining order were either incompetent or lacked the will to act.

Commenting on the killing of the ASI in Amritsar while he was on his way to duty, Warring said that when policemen themselves are not secure and can be killed at the will and discretion of criminals and gangsters, one can only imagine how insecure the common man must feel.
